The Vibe
Summer and Garrett invited every guest to wear black or white. The result was striking. From bridesmaids to grandparents, the whole celebration felt timeless and modern at once. Set on our 300 acre working farm in Pierson, Florida, the quiet country setting did the rest. Oaks draped in Spanish Moss. A lake reflecting the sky. Golden hour that glows. It all came together for a day that felt effortless.
Summer and Garrett’s black-and-white wedding at Legacy at Oak Meadows featured a timeless country setting with a modern twist. Their ceremony took place on the North Lawn with a barn door backdrop, followed by a lively reception in the White Wedding Barn. The day was filled with personal touches, including custom branding and portrait sessions among the farm’s scenic spots.
Summer and Garrett made a little Legacy history. They were the first couple to say I do on the North Lawn of the White Barn, using those huge wooden sliding doors as their ceremony backdrop. The clean lines and rustic wood fit their black and white palette perfectly. The aisle ran across the lawn with friends and family wrapped in close. When the doors opened after the kiss, everyone cheered.
We set up white ceremony chairs from Special Occasion Seating in neat rows facing the barn. Ann Axon Photography positioned herself to capture both the couple and the architectural backdrop. L’amour Weddings and Events filmed the ceremony and moved around the property throughout the day. Having both photo and video means Summer and Garrett can relive every moment.

Summer and Garrett chose the custom branding experience we offer for weddings. They branded their design into a cowhide to take home and into a loft step inside the White Barn. Later that night, we projected their brand onto the barn wall. It became a subtle icon of their story that guests noticed and talked about.
The morning of the wedding, the guys kept things relaxed. They enjoyed a time of shooting skeet, and fishing on the lake. Jokes circulated in the groom’s loft with its poker table and leather seating. A quick ride by golf cart to check the ceremony site. Maverick, their German Shorthaired Pointer and very official Dog of Honor, stole hearts all day with perfect sits and tail wags. Dogs of Honor handled him professionally, so he was calm during the ceremony and available for photos without stress.
Ann Axon knows this property and it shows. She moved from the Magnolia Grove to the dock, catching mirror-like reflections on the lake and that warm edge of sunset. Out by the pasture fence, our Texas Longhorns wandered close for portraits that felt classic and a little wild. Back at the vintage red truck with its chandelier, the black and white wardrobe popped against the white barn siding.
The couple used our golf cart service to move between photo locations without walking long distances in dress shoes. It’s something we recommend for anyone planning portraits across the 300 acres, especially if you’re shooting during golden hour when timing matters.
After the ceremony, guests walked over to the Gather Outdoor Summer Kitchen for cocktail hour. Wander Bar served drinks and Cocktails & Catering set up appetizers. The covered patio gave everyone an easy flow between lounge seating, lawn chats, and a peek at the reception space as Hanover Celebrations and McClain Event Planning set the last candles and checked details.
The Summer Kitchen works well for this transition time. Guests can spread out, the natural setting keeps conversation relaxed, and the wedding party finishes portraits without feeling rushed.
The White Wedding Barn seats up to 250, so 136 guests felt roomy on the permanent dance floor. We provided farm tables with cross back chairs that grounded the look. Rosé Bouquet created white florals that layered in texture, and Wayne Komulainen Drapery added soft fabric without fighting the monochrome palette. Making It Matthews brought in additional rental pieces that elevated the space.
The grand entrance hit with real drama. Cold sparklers lit up the barn as the doors opened, and Summer and Garrett went straight into their first dance on the clouds. Wedding and Events Special Effects created that low fog effect that stays at floor level, so the couple seemed to float. Later in the evening, CO2 cannons kicked the party energy up again.
Elena Costa Salon Wedding Team had done hair that morning in our bridal suite with its six stations, private restroom, and mini fridge. Beauty by Lauren Nicole handled makeup. Both teams worked in the 800 square foot air conditioned space, so everyone stayed comfortable during prep.
Kneading More Sweets Bakery delivered the wedding cake, which we displayed on one of our vintage pieces. The built in sound system and projector in the White Barn meant the couple could share photos and video clips during dinner without needing extra equipment.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better place to start out forever. The views, the vibe, the Legacy team, everything was perfect. If Legacy at Oak Meadows is a venue you’re looking at, pick the date and book it. You won’t regret it.”
We don’t share that quote to brag. We share it because when couples tell us they felt supported and had room to make the day theirs, it confirms we’re doing what we set out to do.
If you love clean, modern lines with rustic warmth
The North Lawn ceremony against the sliding barn doors is a strong choice. The architectural backdrop needs minimal additional decor.
If you want portraits with character
Plan 25 minutes at golden hour for the Magnolia Grove, the lakeside dock, the vintage truck, and the grand oaks at the entrance with the vintage barn draped in vines. Ask us about handler support if you want Longhorn portraits. The animals are accustomed to cameras and people, but professional handling makes everyone comfortable.
If you’re thinking through logistics
Our golf cart service helps grandparents and the wedding party move around the property. Your month of coordinator and bartender must come from our approved vendor lists. We require that for service consistency. Outside catering is welcome as long as your caterer is licensed and insured.
If you want to include your dog
We allow pets in ceremonies and during photos. They need to be on a leash with a handler. Maverick’s participation in this wedding shows it can work smoothly with the right support.
If you’re considering the branding experience
This is only available for weddings. You provide your brand design, we order the iron, and on your wedding day we heat it so you can brand a cowhide or wood piece to take home. You also brand a step in our loft, and you keep the branding iron after. It’s a keepsake that lasts.

Ready to Plan Your Own Legacy Wedding?
We’re located at 590 Bennett Road in Pierson, Florida. That’s about 30 minutes from DeLand and Ormond Beach, 45 minutes from Eustis and Mount Dora, and 50 minutes from Daytona Beach and Ocala. We’re seeing more couples book from Jacksonville and St. Augustine recently, both about 90 minutes away.
Our ceremony options include the North Lawn that Summer and Garrett used, the Brick Paved Ceremony Site Under the Oaks, the open air Sawgrass Barn overlooking a spring fed pond, and indoor options in the White Barn. For reception, the climate controlled White Wedding Barn seats up to 250 guests with our included farm tables and cross back chairs.
We offer packages from intimate micro weddings for up to 50 guests through full venue rental with 250 guest capacity. Some packages include coordination, catering, photography, DJ, florals, and cake. Others give you just the venue so you can bring in your own vendor team.
If you want to see where Summer and Garrett exchanged vows, tour the bridal suite where the getting ready happened, and walk the property to understand the photo opportunities. Contact us to schedule a visit! You can reach us at 386-749-8400 or through the contact form on our website at legacyatoakmeadows.com.
The branding experience, the longhorns, the miniature donkeys, the golf cart service, the multiple ceremony sites, and the climate controlled barn are all part of what we offer. Whether you want a black and white formal celebration like the Capmans or something completely different, we have the space and flexibility to support your vision.
Can we bring our own alcohol to Legacy at Oak Meadows?
Yes, as long as you hire a bartender from our approved vendor list. We provide those names when you book. Shots and glass bottles aren’t allowed to be served. Cans and clear plastic cups are fine. Your bartender handles all service, and we require host liquor liability coverage as part of your event insurance policy.
Does Legacy at Oak Meadows allow dogs in wedding ceremonies?
Yes. We allow pets in ceremonies and during photo sessions. They need to be on a leash with a handler throughout. Dogs of Honor is one professional handler service. Summer and Garrett’s dog Maverick participated beautifully in their ceremony and photos with professional handling support. After the ceremony and pictures, we ask that the handler take the pet back to an area that is safe for them, such as your hotel or air bnb. No matter how sweet your pet is, crowds drinking alcohol, and loud music are not a good combination for pets in a new environment.
Is the custom branding experience available for all events at the venue?
No, we only offer custom branding for weddings, not for birthday parties, corporate events, or other celebrations. For wedding couples, you provide your brand design and we order the branding iron. On your wedding day we heat it up so you can brand a cowhide or piece of wood to take home as a keepsake. You also brand a step in our loft that becomes a permanent part of the barn. You keep the branding iron after your wedding.
How far in advance should we book Legacy at Oak Meadows for our wedding?
We recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind. Popular dates, especially Saturdays in spring and fall, tend to book eight to twelve months out. We’re currently seeing increased bookings from Jacksonville and St. Augustine couples who are finding value in driving to us, so earlier contact helps if you have your heart set on a specific date.
What vendor flexibility do you offer at Legacy at Oak Meadows?
We have an open vendor policy for most services. You must hire your month of coordinator and bartender from our approved vendor lists for service consistency. Your caterer must be licensed and insured. Beyond those requirements, you choose your own photographer, videographer, florist, DJ, hair and makeup team, and other vendors. We can provide recommendations if helpful, but the choices are yours. All vendors you hire, you are required to furnish the venue with their Certificate of Insurance.
